Research Notes

Grade 56 is an 11-Jewel movement with two pairs of screw-set jewels on the escape and 4th wheels.

Two separate runs are indicated in Elgin Serial Lists. However, #350423 from the first designated run has been verified as a 10-Size grade 53 movement with a solid gold balance. It is unclear whether the entire run consists of the Grade 53 movements or not.

#371866 from the second run has been confirmed as Grade 56, as expected, with two pairs of screw-set jewels on the escape and 4th wheels. (Item sold on eBay from Ontario, Canada).
