Research Notes

Rockford Serial Lists indicate a total of 331 Grade 820 movement were manufactured, generally interrupting larger runs of Grade 830 movements with small batches. The 1903 Oskamp, Nolting & Co. catalog describes the Grade 820 as "adjusted to temperature and positions." Movements are marked "Rockford Watch Co. - 17 Jewels - Adjusted" in fancy and simple serif style.

The Grade 820 and the "sister" Grade 920 were produced during the 18-Size model transition from 7/8 to 9/10. All Grade 820 runs are listed as Model 8 in the factory serial lists. It is unclear as to whether any movements were actually finished as Model 10 instead of Model 8.

The c.1907 Rockford Catalog ("The Name Rockford Designated a High Grade Watch") includes an illustration of the Grade 820 movement, consistent with the traits of a Model 8. In contrast, other 18-Size movements offered within the catalog are clearly illustrated as Model 9/10 movements.
