| Case Details | Burton E. Peebles was born in 1870 in Granville, Massachusetts. He originally moved to Adams, Massachusetts after accepting a job offer from Hurd's Jewelry Shop as a watchmaker. Peebles later bought out the business from A.J. Hurd, the original 1901 occupant of the store. The jewelry store was located in the Mausert Block on Park Street in Adams, MA. Peebles ran this store for over 25 years until the year 1927, when Peebles left Adams, MA and leased a space for his business at the Richmond Hotel in North Adams, MA. Peebles passed away in 1929 at the age of 58 years old, but the Peebles Jewel Shop remained open into the 1970s and was located at 34 Main Street. |
