| Dial Details | The Union Watch Company was technically an American company, but they sold cheap Swiss imports by mail-order, advertising their watches as 17 jewel watches. The Jewelers Circular Weekly inspected one of these watches and published an article of what they found. It was noted that the watches were in fact 7 jewel watches, not 17 jewels as advertised. The Union Watch Co. claimed that it had no prior knowledge of the number of jewels which were in these Swiss imports. What is interesting about this example is that most Union Watch Company watches are stamped "New York" on the movements, while this example is stamped "Boston". |
