Case Details | This Thiery Watch Case is especially interesting because it has two consecutive serial numbers instead of one. On the inside of the case is stamped three of Charles Thiery's patent dates, along with serial number 103. However, on the back cover there are serial numbers 103 and 104. Whether this was due to a die break or another problem with Thiery's machinery is unknown. Serial number 103 is much lighter compared to that of 104, which was what likely caused such a remediation to occur. |

Dial Details | This style dial has a few differences compared to other dials in the 500 serial range. There are still no numbers around the outer indices, but instead of having dots and stems around the outer dial, it uses outward facing arrows. The arrows in the smallest subdial have also changed by not having any stems, and the dial font is no longer bold. This new dial style was introduced between serial numbers 600-700. This early Auburndale Timer beats in quarters of a second and has a single stamped patent date of May 28, 1878 on the inside of the movement. Somewhere between serial numbers 2100-2500 this one patent date would change to show three different patent dates stamped on the movement. |
