Dial Details Andrew Peckham Brownell was born in Little Compton, Rhode Island on January 26, 1815. He began working in New Bedford, Massachusetts as a teenager somewhere around 1828 and continued working in New Bedford up until 1880. Throughout that time, he was listed in the U.S. census under various titles which included goldsmith, jeweler, and merchant. In the 1859 business directory for New Bedford, Brownell's business was listed as being located at 94 Union Street. Brownell passed away on November 30, 1889. He is buried in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford, MA.
