Dial Details | This movement is interesting in that it lacks any Tremont engravings and the dial is unsigned. After the Tremont Watch Company went under, Aaron Dennison ordered 1,500 sets of Tremont plates around the year 1872 and had them brought to Birmingham, England for the start of the Anglo-American Watch Company. The seller of this movement was located in Chepstow, which is a town about 90 miles south of Birmingham. It's very probable that this sterile movement is one those 1,500 assembled watches. The movement shows pry marks from someone trying to pry the movement out of the case (the case was likely gold and melted down for scrap). |
