A RARE FIND from a watch collector's estate! A beautiful antique men's 16 Size 14K SOLID yellow gold open face 'DOCTORS'
pocket watch, circa 1882; currently running for over 24 hours and within approximately 2 minutes accuracy.
The total gross weight of the watch is 127.7 grams.

Please note that the collector died over 2 decades ago and collected from the 1960's to the 1980's,
so a good service will also be in order.

This stem wind / LEVER set movement has written on it, "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co., ADJUSTED, No. 1079017, PATENT PINION".
The movement is 15 jewels, sweep second, presumed fourth model, with gold screw-down jewel settings, gold train, blued screws and
gorgeous damaskeening to the plates. Cosmetically in amazing condition, with only some light scratches!
The lever for setting the hands is at the 8 minute position; it does pull out and stay out to set the hands properly.

The white enameled dial has bold black Arabic numerals with some light scratches; the dial has SMALL CHIPS TO THE ENTIRE OUTER
PERIMETER, which are difficult to see when the bezel is in the closed position, this outer perimeter is where the bezel's inner beauty ring
(under the crystal) touches the dial.
The delicate blued steel hands are all in great condition as is the beveled curved glass crystal.

This well crafted and intricately detailed case is in very good condition with some very light wear and faint scratches throughout. The front bezel,
cuvette and rear cover are all hinged and the hinges are in very good condition. The outer rear cover has some beautiful machining with a cartouche at
the center. Inside the rear cover is stamped, "M B, 14K, PAT'D FEB. 21, '82, E. F. M., 21635" and there are some light scratches and a few repairmen's
marks scratched inside. The outer side of the cuvette cover has an outer ring with a machined pattern and on the inside there is a visible scratch
and one presumed repairman's mark. The case has bold 'ribs' around the outer perimeter, with a fine 'beading' and 'rope' pattern to the
outer covers.

The swivel bow is 'firm', it is WORN (thinner) toward the top radius. The crown has many of the 'high ridges' WORN (as mini-GAPS are seen under
magnification where the tapered edges meet). The crown easily winds the mainspring as it should.

The diameter of the case is 53.46mm, with a height (including the bow) of 76.60mm.
The overall thickness of the watch is 16.7mm. The gross weight of the watch is 127.7 grams.
