Case Details | Slight denting on back cover but in my humble opinion gives character to the watch. Beautiful almost untouched movement from 1888. I hope I look so good after 137 years. This was not a train watch so there was never a need to remove a cover to set time. 022 with be with this collection until I die then it will pass onto my son. I still think there are millions of Elgin watches in drawers, on the tracks, in the ocean, landfills backyards and with a few collectors who still cherish the energy that went into the making of these beautiful timepieces. Tick tock. Tick tock. |
Dial Material | Glass Enamel |
Dial Type | Single-Sunk |
Dial Style | Roman |
Dial Signing Name | Elgin Natl. Watch Co |
Dial Details | Dial has the smallest of a hairline crack from the 12 position circling around the dial to the sink to exactly to the 10 second mark. Hard to see without strong lighting. Still beautiful with Roman numerals and I may change the hands when I find pictures of the correct hands I’ll replace both. Even the minute hand is bent. And this is spring steel and has great memory. |
