Case Details While looking at the case screw steal I noticed that the cleanliness was atrocious. Disgusting under heavy magnification and was easily cleaned with a paper napkin, (very abrasive way of cleaning metal) after cleaning I noticed that it screwed in and out like new. Now I will go back and clean the hell out of these disgusting cases. I’d like to dip the whole dang lot into molten sulfur. That’s how we cleaned the fuel injection nozzles on our gas turbines. Even a nice dip in the most pure solvent besides water would be Trichlorethelene. That’s what we used to clean any part used in pure oxygen service in our cryogenic air separation plants. By law they had to be so clean that even fingerprints could provide enough hydrocarbons to cause an explosion with just 2 psi of pressure. I can no longer attain Trichlor. So haispring solvent it is. Must be petroleum based and not water.
Dial Material Glass Enamel
Dial Type Single-Sunk
Dial Style Roman
Dial Signing Name Elgin Natl. Watch Co
Dial Details This is the first dial that has microscopic faults in the paint when they silk screened the Roman Numerals onto the enamel and baked in. Little spots of missing lettering. But you cannot see it with the naked eye. There are hairline cracks in various places but no missing enamel. Very nice dial and will only require light cleaning with micro filtered water. If it’s good enough for me then it’s good enough for these little babies.
