Dial Details | Adolphus J. Landry was born in 1858 in Vermont and later moved to Massachusetts. He was listed as a jeweler and optician located at 51 Temple Street Boston, MA. but later moved his business to 61 Temple Street. Landry's store was broken into on October of 1901, and around $100 worth of merchandise (around $3,600 by today's standards) was looted from the store. The thief was later arrested after trying to dispose of some of the merchandise at a pawn shop. In April of 1908, Landry's store was again looted of $500-$600 worth of merchandise. After this incident it was reported that Landry was not renewing his lease at 61 Temple Street. Instead, Landry decided to sell out his stock and retire to Maine. Three years later, Landry returned to Boston and started up in the trade again. He moved into the Washington Building in Boston, but later moved his business to Main Street in Scituate, Massachusetts. In 1916 it was reported that his business moved to Cohasset, Massachusetts. Landry stayed in business up until his death on 8/10/1928 at the age of 69 or 70. He is buried at the Green River Cemetery in Greenfield, Massachusetts which was the home town of his wife, Rose D. Fiske. |
