| Case Details | Hand-engraved. Most case designs are composed of a compilation of various styles and engraving techniques. This layout was typically referred to as “half-engraved” or “top and bottom” in original catalogs. The concentric rings around the upper portion and to the right were described as a “satin” style. While I am unable to see the edge very well, it appears to have a full Vermicelli border, matching the “lower” left portion of the design. The house engraving would have been classified as a “landscape” design. Original catalogs also would have described the case structure as “flat” while modern collectors generally refer to it as a “drum case.” Fantastic case, by the way. |
