Case Details | A.L.D into a chamfered rectangle A L Dennison: Aaron Lufkin Dennison, subsequently Dennison, Wigley & Co until 1904 and then The Dennison Watch Case Co. Aaron Lufkin Dennison, born in Freeport, Me, USA, in 1812, was the first to manufacture watches by machinery building his business on a system of interchangeable parts. Dennison built a factory at Roxbury, Mass. in 1853, later moving to Waltham, near Boston. Meanwhile he moved to England where he commenced the manufacture of watch cases with premises in Handsworth, Birmingham. The business was known as Dennison, Wigley & Co. He died in 1895 and the business was continued under the same style until 1905. Franklin Dennison continued the business as The Dennison Watch Case Co and in 1919 the business was converted into a limited liability company |
