Case Details | 1881, Elgin, HH Taylor. I had a heck of a time finding a replacement screw to repair this watch. 1 of the photos I tried to show the unique main screw that has a hole and a screw within the Main Screw for the crown wheel. Below the crown wheel is a plate mechanism that goes under the second small screw. The main screw is common to most lever set Elgin. However this HH Talylor version has a hole drilled and taped right through the Flat top of the Main screw and out the threaded end. This allows a second smaller screw to holds a plate mechanism that is part of the lever setting feature. The plate portion is below the crown wheel portion in the photo. By the way if you ever are working on this system. The small screw is left hand threaded. I tried to document this in the photo. The smaller screw is in place through the main screw that is attached to the crown wheel. It is all a bit hard to describe and even harder to photograph and document with the small photo space allowed. allowed. |
