Dial Details If your interested, I have a rather lengthy explanation of this watch listed below. This watch is a lot #1011025, not a Serial Number. They had 2 versions of this model. This lot #1011025, has the plain non micro regulator version. See Sn/Lot#'s 1011022, 1011023, 1011024, for the micro regulator version.
Further Notes:
This watch has a Sn1011025. I fact it is actually a lot #. Not a Serial Number. They have 4 lot# 1011022, 1011023, 1011024, and 1011025. #1011025 is slightly different. The #1011022 though 1011024 were micro regulator versions.
OK, I am going to come out of the closet. I collect NY Standard Pocket Watches. There, I said it. I have heard them described a pond skippers. However they had a fairly large place in the mostly low end watch market. Their 15j watches ran very well.
All Sz10's are 15j, and all open face. The Sz10 is a personnel favorite of mine. I have a hand full of them. I have never seen this movement displayed or diagrammed in any watch book. Often mistakenly describes on E-Bay as a Sz12 or even a Sz16. But in fact, this is a Sz10. The tell is a small amount of plating under the small winding wheel for the Sz10 10. The confusion is due to the similar plate pattern of the Sz12, Sz16. The Sz12 is on Pg330, and pg333 of the Complete Price Guide to Watches (CPGTW). By Richard E Gilbert, Tom Engle, and (Cooksey Shugart RIP, 2013). No plate under the small winding wheel. Possibly someone has some factory parts manuals that will diagram this watch. You can see the small sliver of plate in the movement photo. Your going to find this Sn is in fact not a Sn. But a lot number. The Sz10 had 4 different lot numbers. Lot #'s. 1011022, 1011023. 1011024 , and 1011025. There was a Sz10/0 diagrammed on pg333, CPGTW . The Sz10 watch is not diagrammed. About the only differences I have noticed between the lot #'s. The last version (1011025) had a plain regulate. Like the English & American version 1800-1850. Pg 58 (CPGTW). The others had a micro adjust version incorporating a star wheel and a sliding slot design. The lower Lot #'s are the earliest. The 1011025 was the last. Some versions had dials that had only Standard printed on the dials. Some said had no maker marking. Some had Keystone Standard. On E-bay, there is plenty of old magazine advertisements describing the. New 10Sz Keystone Standard Pocket Watch.
The Warman's Watches Field Guide By Dean Judy on pg510 has a production # date listing this lot # at about 1900. You will often see the Sz10 watch being sold on e-bay, without the crown. That is because if you do not release the stem by loosening the small screw by the small winding wheel you will brake the stem when you remove the movement from the case.
