Per; American Pocket Watches, Identification and Price Guide, by Roy Ehrhardt and William, "Bill" Meggars, copyright 1987; Page 208; this serial # is in a run of 400 assigned to Meylan for Repeater & Chronographs.
Per their researcher; Carl Goetz, It is not known how many of these watches were ACTUALLY produced. Of this run of 400 numbers Carl has seen only about 20, mostly Repeaters.
He described this watch as EXTREMELY RARE, 5 STAR.
DESCRIPTION: It is an EA 35N listed on page 58 of the above captioned book as; "EA Drawing Not Available". It is on page 207 as " Not Seen".

Movement; Back Plate Markings;
AMERICAN WALTHAM WATCH CO. 3,793,218. Pat. 1880.
Face Plate Markings;
( Dial is Glass Enamel ) WALTHAM. Dial marked to the second and 1/5th of a second.
Hands; Hour hand, Minute hand, 2 Long Sweep hands, 2 small 60 Second Dials with 1 hand each.
Case; Open Face. Marked inside back cover; "14K" , "80576".
Marked inside cuvette; "14K" below a 4 rose symbol.
Engine Turned Back; Cuvette has 1/8" Engine Turned Circle on back flat edge.
2 Rectangular Push Buttons. Lower button starts 1st hand going. Top button starts 2nd hand going.
Coin Edge.
Case is a DuBois. Carl believes they were in Brooklyn.
Condition; In excellent working order.

SALES HISTORY; Per December, 2004 Issue No.321 of THE MART , from the NAWCC, Inc., page 60, a watch from this run with serial # 3,793,206, ( 12 removed from this watch ), sold as Lot 1014 at Sotheby's Auction, New York, Oct. 13-15, 2004 for $78,000. It had been valued at $8,000.-$12,000.
It was described as " Lot 1014. An American Watch Company original is a unique example of a minute repeater, falling in the production run of group six, No 3,793,001 - 3,793,400. This group represents the beginning of Waltham's collaboration with Meylan. This chronograph watch is complete with 17 jewels, the dial and movement is signed, and the case is stamped with the R.R.F. % Co. mark ".

Chain & Pocket Knife;
Spring loaded at watch end. Attachment link stamped " Gold Filled Ecco ". 12 1/2 " of chain = 23 half inch links joined by 1/8" eyes. All links coin edged, alternate by twos, with plain, fancy patterns. Swivel with hinged spring catch and loop.
Pocket Knife; 2 1/2' Mother of Pearl ( 3/8" missing on one end ), with 5/8" loop. 1- 1 1/2" blade, 2nd blade is 1". " PAL BRAND " on blade and base.
" No. 7127P Germany " on opposite base.

Total weight of watch is 133 grams.
Width is 2 1/16". overall height is 3".
