However, the "unsold/unused" status of this watch exemplified by the butler's polished case back could suggest a number of scenarios, including this watch movement sat unsold for a long time, then the dial was swapped either to use the original dial for repairs to another watch, or to try and find a buyer. The finished watch came from a jeweler's bankruptcy asset auction. It is a curious history, but without additional details, largely unknown. |
