Curator Response: Thanks for the report. According to Hamilton factory documentation for the Grade 972 compiled by Halligan, "When Time Inspections were instituted, this watch in lever set, qualified for service on all roads on which 17-jewel watches were accepted" (the majority of American railroads at the time). For this reason, we have classified this watch as railroad grade.

Serial Number 792725 was reported as inaccurate.

Note: Actually it's accurate. Just to add it's lever
set, 5 position and not RR grade (not enough
jewels for date made).
