Research Notes

The Grade 19 is considered to be a low-production export grade manufactured as Elgin was attempting to expand into Europe in the 1870s. The early stem-wind, lever-set movement features gilt plates and 11 jewels.

Observations:
#345746: The only marking on the movement is the serial number. Keywind/Stemwind. Screw-Set jewels on the top plate for escape and fourth wheels. Fit with dial signed "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co." with bold roman numerals. The London silver case hallmarks indicate a manufacturing date of 1875, aligning with the 1874 estimated production date of the movement.
