Some sources record the name as "Anderson." However, original advertisements confirm the spelling as "Andersen." Crossman reported that J&A produced cases until 1871. However, advertisements are found for the company manufacturing jewelry much later.
While the company reportedly manufactured cases until 1871 [Crossman], Juergens & Andersen were active in the jewelry manufacturing trade for many decades following this time. In January 1893, the company was officially incorporated in Chicago by the sons of the senior partners.
The company headquarters was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. This incident corelates with the reported termination of case making.
