Case Details | Movement was purchased with no case, dial or hands and was cased in an on hand spare. The Dueber "Silverine" (45% nickel, 54% copper and 1% manganese) SB&B case is plain polished with a crisp die engraved coin edge on the outer edge of the bezel and case back. Both the bezel, ring, and case back threads are in excellent condition and operate smoothly. |

Dial Details | The movement came with no dial or hands so available spares were used in the casing of the watch. The dial is DS glass enamel in very good condition with no hairlines; the only flaw being a flake chip at the outer edge of the dial at the 45 second mark. |
Movement Markings | The serial number and "Safety Pinion" are stamped on the train bridge. "Hamilton Watch Co.", "948 Adjusted 3 Positions", " Lancaster Pa. "17 Jewels", and "Double Roller" are stamped on the barrel bridge. The 948 came out in 1913 with the intention of being marketed to the Street Railways, which had started Time Inspections requirements (though not as stringent as the RR's) and hence only adjusted to 3 positions. Time chck'd 12/18 to 12/28/17 10d 1.5 h avg. rate -1.89 sec. Per day. |
