Note: I think there is some confusion on the Elgin (and
other) three finger bridge models. This may be
because the the Elgin.org lists 244, 305, 337,
381 and others as "made bridge". Bout if you look
at the class, they are all shown to be 3/4 bridge
design. A true bridge watch like the Hamilton
960/961 have three separate plates. One to hold
the barrel, one (the bridge) to hold the center
and third wheels, with screws at opposite ends,
and a third bridge to hold the fourth and escape
wheels. All Elgin 3FB models have only two plates:
One to hold the barrel and center wheel and one to
hold the third, fourth and escape wheels. They may
have three "fingers" but it is actually one plate,
making the watch a 3/4 plate. I was wrong in the
past for calling my 3FB accurate. They are 3/4 not
bridge plate design.
