Serial Number 1677671 was reported as inaccurate.

Note: According to 'Roy & Bills' Book (Amr Pocket
Watches, Vol 2), The model 4 (17J & 23J) was NOT
RR grade . Only the model 5 (17 & 23J) was RR
grade. you can tell the difference between model
4 and model 5 by the 'setting lever' position.
Model 4, lever position was 23min. Model 5 lever
position was 7.5min
the Model 4 was HUNTING and the Model 5 was OPEN
FACE.

The 'ea' drawing you show is also not correct.
it should show the 3 finger bridge type 'only'.
ea462 (model 4) and ea464 (model 5).
the ea drawing you are showing is ea463 which is
for the earlier Grades 171 through 177.
Curator Response: Thanks for the report. Since this range was manufacturered c.1903, it would still meet the requirements for service on most of the American railroads at the time, and thus, would be considered railroad grade until roughly 1906-1908. The factory diagram has been updated to display the bridge model.
