Model number 1888H is not a valid U.S. Watch Co.
model number. This looks like a AWWCo model
number.
Curator Response: After re-evaluating images of #95461 from the Live Auctioneers listing, it is evident that this one was erroneously cataloged as a 15-Jewel movement. As you indicated, the presence of an upper center jewel suggests a 16-Jewel (more likely) or 17-Jewel movement. The closest known grade classification with these traits is Grade 40. The U.S. Watch Co. did not maintain any publicly known model designations. For this reason, the 1888H classification is derived from the origin year for this particular model, with the "H" to reference the hunting model, distinguishing it from the 18-Size open face model introduced the same year.
