Elgin Grade 309 a slight modification on the existing Grade 251, and the two movements are nearly identical. According to material catalogs, the only parts different between the grades is the balance (complete), hairspring stud screw, click, and ratchet wheel. In the 1907 A.C. Becken catalog, the Grade 251 movement is illustrated while the Grades 309/294 are described.
