Research Notes
The Rockford Grade 61 was produced in two limited runs of 100 and 50, respectively. The elegant damaskeened nickel finish is highly detailed and a simple design is applied to the dial plate as well, indicative of a premium product. In the 1896 A.C. Becken catalog, the Grade 61 is described as being fully adjusted and is paired with the No. 81 (Hunting) movement. By 1899, neither option was offered in the annual A.C. Becken catalog. An observation from the first run indicates standard movements are marked "R.W.Co. - Rockford Ill. - 17 J - Adjusted" in the chiseled serif style characteristic of Rockford products from this era.
