Serial Number 1015080 was reported as inaccurate.

Note: Based on the September and November 2018 NAWCC
bulletin articles, this watch is a Waltham Model
1899 16 size, 3/4 plate 19 jewel watch built for
E. Howard Watch Co. for its 1905 order with
Waltham. I have serviced the watch and confirm
that it has on its parts 615080 related to its
Waltham’s serial number 12,615,080. The six
digit Waltham number is on parts underneath the
Howard 1015080 serial number on the barrel
bridge.. These two serial numbers are part of the
serial number listing in the November 2018 NAWCC
article for 400 16 size, 19 jewel open- faced
movements to be built by Waltham for E. Howard as
part of its 1905 order. According to the
articles, E. Howard re-used some of its Waltham-
built watch serial numbers again years later after
E. Howard Watch Co. was able to produce its own
watches. Also, the hairspring stud, regulator
jewel screw placement, the regulator arm, and the
mainspring arbor design are all unique to Waltham
movements. Other differences from your
description: my watch only says adjusted without
saying number of adjustments, mine is pendent set,
and the center wheels looks to be gold. The
articles also indicate watches like this were for
sale by Howard in 1906.
Curator Response: Thanks for the report. Yes, this information is indeed correct, and Howard utilized this serial range for early (Waltham) and later (Standard Production) movements.
