Research Note: #65212: Verified with upper center wheel jeweled, Marked "Adjusted." These movements were likely upgraded from 15-Jewel Grade 197 to 16 or 17 Jewels. The Model 2, 17 Jewel, Nickel, Adjusted grade correlates to the Grade 180 classification. However, based on known grade lists, the Grade 180 was not introduced until around 1895, approximately two years after the original estimated production of this run. So, this run is either a 17-Jewel varaition of the Grade 197 (prior to the introduction of the Grade 180), or it was existing inventory upgraded to 17 jewels after the Grade 180 was introduced. Interestingly, the Grade 197 was discontinued as the Grade 180 was being introduced. Similar production occured with the Grade 97/80 (Gilt versions of the 197/180).
