Research Note: Original factory serial lists designate 41725001-41727000 as Grade 478. However, because the first half of the run was produced with a "gold flashed" finished while the second half was standard nickel, this run has been segmented for the purpose of the database.

Serial Number 41726202 was reported as inaccurate.

Note: From a Sept. 2008 thread at the NAWCC message
board

s-gold-flashed-mean )

if you scroll down, it was noted that some (but
not all) of the 41,725,001 - 41,727,000 run of
2000 478s were gold flashed, as indicated in a
partial list.
As you can see from the picture my #41726202 is
nickel. I came across a sold listing online of
#41,726,855 which was also nickel.

Perhaps under Movement Finish "gold flashed or
Nickel" would be less confusing for
movements in the 41,725,001-41,727,000 run that
folks enter on the Database that are Nickel .
