Boss Extra
14 2/10 K. Introduced in July 1889 when the company expanded the “Jas. Boss” product line. The "Extra" was introduced in order to make way for the new 20YR/15YR "Boss" grades. Cases were marked with the Crown/Scales symbol (identical to the 14K Boss cases), until an “X” was added under the symbol to indicate the “Extra” grade starting around May 1890.
